My Art Manifesto

This week we briefly touched upon the idea of an art manifesto, and the idea of looking back on it after three years to see how it holds up.

An art manifesto is a declaration of your artistic principles or intentions and is commonly of a political nature.

My Art Manifesto

I solemnly swear to uphold the following principals, not just in the three years that I am at PCA but in my continuing career and development;

  • To create work that changes peoples perceptions of art,
 for example; by using unconventional materials, designs or messages.

  • That art must be individual and responsible.
  • To consider the environment, when choosing materials.
  • To use recycled, sustainable, or re-usable materials in my work.
  • To consider the sustainability of my work, its effect on the earth, and its impact when discarded.
  •  To not unnecessarily waste.
  •  To promote the idea that art is for everyone.
    • Accessible to everyone.
    • and possible for everyone to own
    • As well as a force for social change and personal development.

Signed, L. S. Axworthy
